assay 化验 As a noun, assay means a test to determine the components of a substance or object. As a verb, it refers to the act of analysing, or of conducting that test. It is usually used in chemistry-related fields like metallurgy and pharmaceuticals.
Example:
An applied immunology biomedical SME company prepares molecular biological assay systems and conducts tests on human pathology samples such as skin cancer or colo-rectal samples. The samples are preserved in wax, sliced and then analysed under microscopic imaging for presence of cancer.
